This version contains an iPad Editor that can connect to a remote iPad evaluation server. It allows to evaluate iPad without having to install an iPad Server.
Mac: download iPadMac.zip,
unzip the file, and click on the iPad application to start iPad.
Snow Leopard users: we are working to fix the bug that prevents starting iPad on your operating system.
Windows: download iPadWindows.zip, unzip the file, and click on iPad.exe to start iPad.
Linux: download iPadLinux.zip, unzip the file, cd iPad, enter "chmod +x iPad.sh jre/bin/java", and run iPad.sh to start iPad.
Access to the iPad Evaluation Server: login using the guest account: username=guest, password=guest. You can also view stored information on the Web via the iPad Portal: http://ipadeln.com/portal.html.
Read the evaluation hints so as not to miss critical iPad functionality. For additional information on how to use iPad, see iPad tutorials or help.
If you have problems starting iPad, it is likely that you have not fully unzipped the downloaded folder. For example, clicking on a zipped folder usually only shows the folder contents but the folder itself remains zipped. Make sure to fully unzip the folder before starting iPad.
Note that the speed of interaction with the evaluation server is likely to be lower than if the iPad server were installed in your lab (due to the lower connection bandwidth and the higher number of concurrent server connections by other evaluators).
To install the full iPad system in your lab, you need to install the iPad Server on a dedicated lab computer (see below). If you prefer, we can also host your iPad server on one of our computers.
This package allows to install iPad Server on your computer. You can then install iPad Editors linked to your own iPad Server and try the complete iPad installation with up to 5 users within your laboratory.
1. Download iPad Server, unzip the file, and follow the installation instructions.pdf
Windows: bundled (one-click installation of all the required components), partial (recommended for updates).
Linux: partial (requires third-party components, can be used for updates).
2. Install iPad Editor on the users’ computers: iPad Editor Installation Instructions.pdf - for Mac, Windows, or Linux. Note: the evaluation version of the editor is not compatible with your server.
Information on how to use and administer iPad can be found in iPad tutorials, help, forum, and administration instructions.pdf.
