Scalability
iPad is designed to support information management in a typical research laboratory or within an inter-laboratory research project with up to 30 members. It is not advisable to use the same iPad server for more than 30 members unless some members use the system very rarely. It is ok for external collaborators to access information on the laboratory server by using the iPad Portal. However, frequent external access may significantly slow down the system, so it should be limited.
Open source?
Would you be interested in contributing to iPad development if iPad code were available under an open source license? If so, please tell us how you would contribute and we may open the source code given enough interest. Please include your name, the name of your organization, a brief description of the project you have in mind, and what open-source license you would require.
